Quest AV model AVX2 Automatic Video and Audio Switcher |
|
| The Quest AV model AVX2 MkII is a microprocessor-controlled, automatic 2 input video and audio switcher designed and manufactured by Quest Electronics Pty Limited in Australia. This unit has been designed into the same-size case as our AB2C, 1RU high (1RU=1.75"=44.5mm) so three of them will comfortably fit side-by-side on most rack trays or just sitting on top of another item of rack-mount equipment. The AVX2 has some interesting features... | |

| AUTOMATIC - When a single video signal is fed to the AVX2 it automatically routes it to the output connectors. If there are two active inputs then input 1 takes precedence. If input 1 fails (e.g. a tape playing on a vcr finishes) then input 2 is switched to the output. | and MANUAL - The AVX2 can also be controlled by external contact closure device/s which may be connected to the Auxiliary I/O - Remote Control connector on the rear panel. |
| VIDEO - The video switching is performed by fast, wide bandwidth circuitry to ensure that the video signal is kept at the highest quality possible. Video 'ON' switching occurs during the vertical sync interval for minimal effect on the displayed video. Two buffered outputs help avoid the need for an external distribution amplifier. | AUDIO - The stereo audio inputs use passive reed relay switching for maximum versatility and always follow the video switching. Signal-levels of millivolts or loudspeaker outputs up to 10W can be switched. |
| AUXILIARY - There are two sets of floating DPCO (double-pole, changeover) contacts provided at the Aux I/O - Remote connector. These could be used to switch balanced audio, control another device, sound an alarm, light a tally, etc., etc. They follow the video switching and can be made to latch or pulse (500mS approx.). | INDICATORS - No guesswork involved! Our signature blue led indicates Power ON. Four red led's indicate which input is active, the absence of any video input and whether an external device is controlling the switching. |
