GFX3 Three Input Graphics & Stereo Audio Switcher

The GFX3 is a Multimedia switcher designed to switch the video graphics (VGA / SVGA / XGA, etc) from three PC’s to a single monitor or projector as well as their stereo audio outputs to a single pair of speakers or to a stereo power amplifier.

The three graphics inputs are via 15 pin female high density DB sockets on the rear panel. Each input loops through to a buffered 15 pin female high density socket to allow it's own monitor to be connected - all the other pins are looped through to allow the PC and Monitor to "talk".

Each input is buffered (amplified) to completely isolate the switching function from the inputs, maintain correct termination and maximise picture quality. Each input has its own internal adjustment (±6dB approximately) of Red, Green and Blue levels to allow Colour and Brightness matching of the various sources or to compensate for losses in long cables. The buffered, switched output is a 15 pin female high density socket. Pin connections conform to standard VGA / SVGA / XGA practice.

The stereo audio inputs and output are connected via 3.5mm stereo mini-jack sockets. The audio switching is passive and handled by silent relays capable of switching signal or loudspeaker levels of up to 10 watts. This section is bi-directional and may switch a single input to three outputs or three inputs to a single output. The front panel carries the push-button controls for selecting one of the three inputs and a fourth "Standby" position.

In the Standby mode the sync. from input 1 is sent to the output, but the R, G & B signals are blanked, resulting in a stable, black screen. The audio is disconnected in the Standby mode. Internally, Input 1 or Standby are jumper selectable as the turn-on default. The rear panel carries a 9 pin female D-sub socket remote control connector which allows selection of any input or "Standby" by the use of momentary contact closures.

The GFX3's output can drive appropriate cables (our HQ04 cable assemblies for example) of any practical length. The longest cables we have supplied so far are 110 metres long!! For this application, the RGB gains in the GFX3 were set close to maximum and one of our VGS2's was used at the destination end with it's RGB gains set to restore the RGB levels to normal. The 640x480 pix look great. All levels were preset by us to make the installations straightforward.

As well as custom cabling made from our HQ04 cable, we can also supply bulk HQ04 cable, RG59 cable, BNC's, off-the-shelf HQ cables, various adaptors and our DB95 BNC breakout adaptor for use with RG59 cable. Designed and manufactured in Australia, the GFX3 is constructed in a 1U all-aluminum rack-mount case with built-in 240 Vac supply. Mains entry is via a standard IEC connector (Australian mains cable with 'piggy-back' mains plug supplied). 120Vac also available.
