Quest AV model IR52 Infra-red Control Expander

The IR52 has primarily been designed to allow one infra-red remote to control a bank of 50 vcr's. The unit can also be configured to control two banks of 25 VCR's with seperate remotes. Due to the novel design of the IR52 it is also possible to connect two remotes per channel to control two types of VCR's per bank of 25 or up to four types of vcrs in a single bank of 50 machines! It is possible to either chain or master/slave IR52s together to get more outputs.

INPUTS -
The front panel inputs have Signal led's which flicker to indicate data being received from a remote control.

OUTPUTS -
The rear panel sports two rows of 25 outputs which have been designed to feed our IRRL infra-red emitters. These simply plug in - no tools required to connect.

IRRL Emitter

IRRL Emitter
One IRRL per vcr to be controlled is required. These simply plug into the IR52 outputs and attach to the front of the vcr with a Velcro dot (supplied). This allows easy removal for vcr servicing and requires no modification of the vcr. The IRRL cable is fully shielded, fitted with a moulded 3.5mm plug and is 6 metres long.

Remote controls to be used with the IR52 inputs require a simple modification to fit a cable and 3.5mm plug in place of the existing i.r. led. This is easily carried out on-site by the installer or we can do it for you for a small additional cost. Instructions are supplied with the equipment.

OUTPUTS

50 x 3.5mm sockets organised as 2 x banks of 25 outputs. These can also be configured internally as a single bank of 50 outputs (factory default).

Constructed in an aluminium 1U rack mount case with built-in 240Vac mains power supply (120Vac available to order). Supplied with an IEC mains cable.

IRRL SPECIFICATIONS

INPUT

3.5mm mono plug moulded onto 6Mtr shielded cable. Permanently attached to the IR emitter pcb. Current limiting for the IR emitting semiconductor device is provided by the IR52. Nominal drive current 20mA @ 1.2V.

OUTPUT

Infra-red pulses. Peak wavelength 940nM, Light output 2 - 6mW/sr @ 20mA, Half angle 30 degrees.
